Phenomenal Four Super Sports Charity Weekend

The DeAngelo Williams Foundation co-hosts the annual Phenomenal 4 Super Sports Charity Weekend every year in Memphis, Tennessee with Marcus Bell, Reggie Howard, and Mike McKenzie.

In 2009, the weekend kicked off with the Gridiron Golf Tournament, which took place in Bartlett at Quail Ridge Golf Course. The Cleats & Kicks Combine boasted almost a thousand kids between the ages of 6 and 18 who participated in the football camp and the cheerleading/dance camp. The weekend also included the Celebrity Bowling Challenge held at Bartlett Lanes, a Celebrity Basketball Game at Kirby High School, and a Community Picnic & Health Fair at Winridge Park. DeAngelo brought many of his fellow Carolina Panthers’ teammates into town to help out for the weekend, including Jonathan Stewart, Ma’ake Kemoeatu, Richard Marshall, Charles Godfrey, Ryan Kalil, and Travelle Wharton.

Working with Susan G. Koman

Every year the NFL supports Breast Cancer Awareness month in October. In 2009, they showed their support with wall banners, field stencils, pink goal post pads, pink sideline towels, and even a pink game coin at games all across the league.

Last season, in support of the league’s initiative, the Carolina Panthers partnered up with Susan G. Komen and Belk Stores. They provided a team for DeAngelo in the Race for the Cure that took place on October 3, 2009 in Uptown Charlotte.

The team was called the “Williams Warriors” and definitely had a standout presence at the event via specially designed t-shirts from Belk. DeAngelo’s team was one of the largest teams the annual event has ever yielded.

In July, DeAngelo participated in a photo shoot for the Susan G. Komen Foundation to utilize for advertising on several donated billboards all around the city of Charlotte. DeAngelo posed in pictures with his mother, Sandra Hill, and Jen Pagani from team GO JEN GO, and the Pagani Family.

Throughout the registration period, DeAngelo also made appearances at the Belk store in the South Park mall to encourage people to join his team. He also used this time and the media to advocate the importance of early detection by helping people schedule mammograms.
